Either because the lyrics are about related to parenting or the song just brings up memories of a specific time?
Some of mine--these are songs we sang often at bedtime: Rocks and Water, Deb Talan Strange Mercy, St Vincent |

Three Little Birds
Lovely Day |

Una Mujer by Seu Jorge makes me think of my daughter. Was listening to it rely on my pregnancy and I realized my daughter was a girl. (the title means "A Woman.")
Mother Nature's Son by the Beatles makes me think about my son. I listened to it when I was in labor with him. It just sounds like him. |
| Chariots Rise by Lizzie West. I listened to it on my iPod every day while walking at the end of my pregnancy with my son. |
| When I was pregnant with my daughter, the World Cup was in South Africa and for part of the promotion, U2 remixed a bunch of their songs with the Soweto Gospel Choir. I am a huge U2 fan, and the new version of Where the Streets Have No Name was just magic to me. I listened to it multiple times on my way to and from work every day. Just couldn't get enough. When DD was about 4, we happened to play it in the car and she wanted to hear it over and over again-- "I just love this song, Mommy, and I don't know why!" |
| Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. When my kids were little (they are now 14 and 18) I would sing this song at the top of my lungs if they were bad in the store. They would HATE IT! I know all of the words and they would behave in an instant. |
| Scissor Sisters - I don't want to Dance makes me think of my son and "Laura" makes me think of my daughter. |
| I had kids in the 1980s, and then another batch in the 2000s, and I held them all and danced around to the Smiths, for some reason. Great baby music. So I think of various Smiths songs, especially The Boy With the Thorn in His Side. |
| Haven't met you yet by Michael Bublé. I know it is a love song but I listened to it while I was pregnant and it reminds me of both my boys. |
| Rage against the machine's Killin' in the name of.....the "F*** you, I won't do what you tell me"part. Seems like something they would say if they could it express it while tantruming. 2.5 twins. |
I agree. Also Beautiful Boy by John Lennon |
| Three little birds, hey baby, and the boxer. |
|
This awesome song by Paul Simon immediately reminded me of my grown son and how he is with his daughter. It almost made me cry.
