bizarre nap response to nap transition

Anonymous
My son is almost 14-months and his daycare is transitioning his class to 1 nap (a bit early for me but I don't have any control) and since this started last week he is literally only napping for 1 hour tops! He has always been a great sleeper and used to go down for his morning nap between 9-10 and slept for 1.5-2 hours and then an afternoon nap between 1:30-2:30 for a 1-1.5 hour nap. His daycare is putting the children down at 12 with the expectation they will nap for 2.5-3 hours. Anyone else ever see the reverse occur -everyone told us it would be wonderful because everything would be consolidated. I am concerned this is way to early for him and this is his way of communicating this. Any advice is appreciated!

How long has it been going on? I'd give it a week or so and see how he does.

DS transitioned to the toddler room at about that age, and went to the one afternoon nap with no problem at all. It took less than a week for him to transition. It does make life easier when you don't have to worry about the morning nap.

My daughter was the same way. It took a bit of time, but eventually she would take a long mid-day nap. Until that happened, we moved the bedtime up about 30 minutes.
