1st timer going to Sea Colony (bethany beach) questions

We are heading out to Sea Colony next week and had some questions....

... how long does it really take to drive out there?
.... I had read somewhere about the lines for checking in for Resort Quest rentals - any recommendations on how to best manage these? How long are these (really?)

I have not rented through Resort Quest but as far as driving goes it takes about 2 1/2 hours. It is a really easy drive once you get over the bridge. Have fun!

We live in Fairfax - it takes about 3 hours without stops if you don't hit traffic at the bridge, which we usually don't. We usually stop for lunch half-way there. We've never had a line at check-in time and have been renting from Resortquest for years so I really have no idea what you're talking about - we just walk up the counter and get our keys and then go to the unit, or if its before 3, we walk around on the beach for an hour first.

The drive should be about 2 1/2 - 3 hours (from DC) but it took us longer last week. There was traffic leading up to bay bridge. Also, traffic on 26 was really backed up. No lines at Resort Quest whatsoever - very smooth process.

Just a restaurant tip: We were there recently and The Penguin Diner in downtown Bethany offers a free kids' breakfast with the purchase of an adult breakfast. Awesome! The food was very good--my omelet was HUGE--and the portion of eggs DS got (for free!) was great.

Also, there is a playground just off the main drag in downtown Bethany--a good one.

Have fun! DS (3 yrs old) loved it there.
