periwinkle inn in Cape May NJ

I just booked a 2 night get-a-way there. My first choice was the Montreal Inn but they were completely booked and I started to panic thinking I might not be able to get anything if I didn't move fast. Anyone ever stay at Periwinkle and care to share their expriences? I checked Trip Advisor and it seemed that people either love it or hate it. Also, what is the ferry ride like? Should I definitely reserve that ahead of time? TIA!
