| If you have Federal BCBC or another federal employee health insurance carrier which does not cover IVF, how much did IVF at GW cost you? |
| Almost $14k not including med costs (which, comparatively, were very minimal). |
| Depending on your protocol and levels of dosing the meds can run up to $5000 per cycle. |
| I was OOP somewhere else (another state). The IVF was $12k and the meds about 4k |
| Call and ask. They have a good plan for OOP. Don't go by what other people here say; your needs may be different. |
| $16,000 |
| If ur in maryland you can buy secondary insurance with coverage. |
| About $15 per cycle. |
|
Call and ask. Their financial people are excellent and EXTREMELY familiar with Fed BCBS.
Also - note that GW *can* and will charge your insurance for monitoring. IVF without insurance is still expensive, but being able to get coverage for monitoring really does add up to a lot of savings (it will be a $40 copay per monitoring session - blood work and ultrasound - rather than $350+/session). |
$15k? |
Doesn't hurt to get an idea of what's to come. It's not like there's much variation. No one with BCBS FEPis paying something like $500 a cycle. |
Yes. With meds, we spent just over $30,000 on two cycles at GW. Not successful. But they are a good clinic. |
| Federal employee here who realized in Nov 2016 that they pulled the IVF coverage from Aetna. Are there any separate insurance plans people are using to cover IVF treatment? I can't seem to find a thead on it. |
| Had awful experience at GW (5 cycles). Friend went to CCRM (new york), recommended I do a phone consult, which I did not realize was even a thing. Ended up going up the following week and doing a consult in person. After one cycle, with a very different protocol (lupron, frozen embryo transfer, etc), pregnant! Dr Levine is incredible and worth the train ride! |
