| Do DCPS Pre-K4 programs include snack in the daily schedule or do students eat breakfast and then have no food until lunch time. If there is no snack, what time do students eat lunch. My little one tends to snack/eat small meals every 2 hours or so. I am trying to figure out if there will be an adjustment to longer periods between eating. |
| At our school, breakfast in classroom at 8:30ish, lunch at 11:30 or 12. |
| Yes there will need to be an adjustment for your child. Start spacing food out a bit now if you think it's an issue. But for many they are busy / engaged and don't seem to care. |
| The schedule varies by school taking into account school size, playground schedule and so forth. Ask the principal. |
| At our school, there was an earlier lunch and afternoon snack. But there was not food every two hours -- that seems excessive. |
+1 absent some specific medical issue, DC can probably forego that morning snack, especially if s/he is busily engaged with something. our pk classroom does breakfast at 810, lunch around 1130 or 12, then an afternoon snack around 2 or 3. DD is in aftercare, for which I send a snack, and sometimes they provide one too. that seems excessive to me too, but grumpy tired kids can often be soothed with food. |
| I have found my kids eat a much better diet and meals are easier when they don't snack. It may end up working out well for you (I have the opposite worry actually, that there is so much food at school ... hoping to skip breakfast there at least ... one of my twins will need all his own food packed and it's so much easier to have a nice meal at home). |

at ours prek3 - breakfast is 845-9 and lunch is at 1130 with nap from 12-2 then snack then specials. or specials then snack then dismissal - i can't remember.
there's snack in aftercare too but we send a snack with our kids for earlier in aftercare so he's not hungry. |
. They nap from 12-2 at your school?
Our PreK has mid morning snack (they bring from home daily), lunch at 12:10 I believe? And a shorter pm rest time (my kid just chills and looks at books, she stopped napping before PreK started. |
