Given that FCPS is all about rules, it's interesting that some teachers at my kids school are not putting their phones on silent/vibration mode during class. They even make non emergency calls while kids are in the middle of important math and LA assignments that require concentration. My goodness, these teachers need to retire if they don't want to be in the classroom and to be respectful to students.
Signed, A former teacher |
| Well former teacher, instead of whining here anonymously, why don't you speak with the principal? If you're really that concerned, you'd have already done that, yes? |
| I'm personally not too worked up about this... |
| I wouldn't really care to be honest. Teachers have lives and emergencies. No one is in danger by them being on the phone or it going off |
|
In my times working as a teacher we put our phones in our purse and made phone calls while students were in specials.
For emergencies, my family called to the main office. |
| Most teachers would lose their jobs over this |
The principal is on a cruise. You think she'll pick up a parent's call? |
Of course they would. |
Kids are in danger while they are not supervised, dummy. |
FCPS administrator here: No, this is not a fireable offense. This might be one of a series of infractions that could lead to a non-renewal. But by itself it is not even close. I'd speak to the teacher and make it clear that personal calls are not to be taken or made while supervising students. If it happens again, we'd move up the chain of progressive discipline. |
Dummy, these kids aren't 2! They do not require sight and sound supervision. Are they supervised in bathrooms? |
| It's unprofessional and sets a bad example for the students. |
| Wait, how do you know this? |
Big dummy, these kids are not 2 but they still need supervision by law in the county. |
Are you one of those busy teachers on the phone while in the classroom? We catched you |
