| Does anyone watch this show? It's an import from Britain that is now available on Netflix - the host, Kevin McCloud is fantastic - and its SO much better than any of the dreck on HGTV. The show follows people who've decided to do a top-to-bottom remodel/build and follows them from beginning to (hopefully) end (although not always) and we get to see their choices etc. It's pure documentary - the show isn't providing any $$ or contractors like most HGTV shows, and thus it comes off so much better. The show's been on for 17 seasons in Britain and just started showing on Netflix a couple weeks ago. And the designs - oh, so lovely, especially in the English countryside. And I love the music - very Harry Potter-esque. |

American TV is usually a poor imitation of British (and even Australian and Canadian TV).
(Trading Spaces was Changing Rooms, Antiques Roadshow, Cash in the Attic, Cash Cab, Broadchurch, Shameless, The Office, Cold Feet, Coupling, House of Cards, Being Human, Prime Suspect...) |
I agree - that's why this show is so very good - the design, the commentary, the beautiful English countryside, the accents, the class issues, the weird zoning and land use issues (that are actually discussed and not swept under the rug). Love it. |
