Our oldest child was in kindergarten last year and about halfway through the year, the teachers starting sending requests home for additional supplies, particularly glue sticks. I did ask his teachers periodically if they needed or wanted anything. Their response was always, 'we'll let you know'. It always seemed a week or so later a paper would come home asking if any parents could send in XXXXX or YYYYYY. I'm happy to provide additional supplies (for everyone) but would prefer to buy them when they're on sale - like right now. Any suggestions or preferances? I'm also happy to buy stuff that's not on the school supply list. Any thoughts? |
Usually stocking up on highly used things (like pencils, crayons, glue sticks, tissues) would be a good bet because those are used a lot in an ECE classroom. Not sure exactly what kind of supplies your school has asked for in the past, but anything that you think the school would use a lot of/go through quickly.
And if they don't ask for them, then you can always save them for the following year. |
Tissues!!! Some years are better than others, but I typically run out of tissues in the middle of the year w/ my elementary students and end up buying them myself to get us through the end of the year!!! The school system provides boxes (if you plead!!), but they are terribly cheap and uncomfortable on already tender little noses. |
OP here - thanks for the suggestions! |
