Would you buy a home in N Arlington if you have kids about to enter K and plan on sending them to public school?
Will all ES be re-boundaried or just some, and what is the proposed timeline? |
| Changing boundaries wouldn't bother me as much as the uncertainty about the high school situation for current kindergarteners. |
| Yes. This is why we are not looking there. |
| No. My kid is ink with anotherto follow. Buy near a school you like and redistrctimg shouldn't affect you. |
| Yes that and the downward trends of the schools them self which I am sure will only be exacerbated by the boundary shift. I have little doubt that the poorer schools will be focused on sharing the pain and in today's climate I suspect they will win. |
| If you look at yorktown's ratings it has plummeted. This is really going to cause another major negative shift down and make north Arlington undesirable. |
so as long as you live within a certain - what .25, .5 - mile radius you would be allowed to go there? are there any published guidelines/rules of thumb that i can read through? |
Fingers crossed you are correct. |
| Yes, there are too many uncertainties there now. When we were ready to "move up," we moved out. |
dammit. Time to move to Anacostia |
| But what are the alternatives? FCCPS and FCPS are both insanely overcrowded (and FCCPS has nowhere to go AT ALL) and I've heard both of those are also in decline due to budgetary issues. ACPS are already well known as being low quality. So does that mean everyone's moving either to Montgomery County, MD or out to Prince William/Loudon Counties? |
What "ratings?" This is the same tired bs someone has been spouting on dcum for years. Get a life. |
Um, no. Don't believe all the hyperbole you read here. |
| Nope, this would only be a deflection tactic designed to suggest to others they look elsewhere to reduce competition in a coveted area. |
Nice try, South Arlington. You are extremely bitter. That's no way to live life. |
