how many DC-area white native-born americans you know recently married other white americans?

purely curious. not being offensive.

so far this year, people i know and people they know who got married were all interracial. it's a small sample size but is anyone else seeing what i'm seeing, or this really isn't news anymore?

I think interracial couples aren't really news any more. But I certainly know plenty of intraracial couples too. Personally, I'm just excited when anyone I know who was single meets *any*one they're really interested in - that seems to be the hard part!

I see white couples around the city...but in my circle of friends and family, all but 2 couples are interracial. My family is already biracial, so in some cases it's triracial.

I don't think it's an issue, just more of an observance that interracial relationships are growing more common. Why is it shameful to notice that or talk about it? No one is condemning it.

Who cares? Though I have to admit, I always take a second look when I see a mono-racial couple. It's just so bizzare to me. All of my friends (accept the Asian/Asian couple) are all interracial.

What church excludes you because of your skin color? There are thousands of churches that accept everyone. I see every color in my church.

And yes, I do love the cultural diversity in my life.

Actually....the Civil War has nothing to do with it. Slavery and interracial marriage are completely seperate issues. In case you didn't know, interracial marriage was ILLEGAL in this country until the late 1960s.

they did not exclude me. they only didn't put effort to include me. that's it.

Your initial post definitely made it sound like you couldn't go because of your skin color. You could go, you just didn't feel included. Without knowing more, it's very hard to conclude that it's only because of your skin color and not something else.
