Communities United Against Hate (CUAH) Launch Event
Sunday, April 23rd , 4:30 – 6:30 pm Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, 4301 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814 Communities United Against Hate (CUAH) is a new organization comprising an ever-growing group of nearly 100 community leaders and dozens of civic, religious and member organizations across the county that promote diversity and inclusion and respond to bias. CUAH operates as: · A Network that increases volunteer support for the programs, activities, trainings, and initiatives of groups that assist communities affected by hate and discrimination; and · A Coalition that supports a strong county-wide rapid response to hate incidents, disseminates reliable information and action alerts, pushes for programmatic reforms within the schools, and advocates for improved public policies at the local, state and federal level. [u] Please join us for CUAH’s launch event, which will feature: · Keynote speaker the Honorable Brian Frosh, Maryland Attorney General · Speaker panel on Combating Hate and Bigotry in the New Era · Volunteer fair Date: Sunday, April 23rd , 4:30 – 6:30 pm Location: Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, 4301 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814 RSVP: Eventbrite at bit.ly/2nwnqQO. This event is free. CUAH is recruiting community groups and nonprofit organizations – particularly those who are involved in community strengthening activities - to set up a table and recruit volunteers free of charge at its launch event. At the moment, the nonprofit organizations do not need to be CUAH members, although the hope is that they will consider membership in the future. To sign up your community group or nonprofit to host a table at the Volunteer Fair, please register the group using the Eventbrite link above, also noting in “Other Information" that you want a table. A volunteer from CUAH will contact you to discuss the logistics once your group is registered. |
