Favorite IKEA dinnerware?
I'm a very detailed person, and to me I think about -how it fits in dishwasher - takes up too much space or doesn't stand up? -looks proportionally right - no crazy IKEA shapes ha ha -for example, no rectangular plates IKEA suggestions or similarly priced suggestions from other stores are great! |
Ikea stoneware is fine, but I prefer Corelle glassware for daily use. It's lightweight, fits well in the dishwasher (like you, this is a big deal to me), and comes in attractive prints. My only complaint is that it does seem to chip on the edges over time, just as stoneware does. It's really inexpensive, too. You can buy it at Target or Walmart. |
I have IKEA's white glass plates (OFTAST). I love them. They're scaled smaller than most dinner plates, but that's actally a good thing in my book. I have a more expensive set but bought these on a whim and prefer them. They're also very durable.

Do you also have the oftast bowls? What are they like? |
We have the white 365+ set and the verdera white square plates. I like them all. I have young kids so I don't care if they break. It's like reusable disposable dishes. They fit fine in the dishwasher. I know you said no square plates but the square plates get used the most actually because they're smaller for the kids and just awesome for a sandwich or snack for adults. |
I don't and I don't remember how they looked at the store. I do plan on getting some though. The series has a really small (as in not clunky) profile, which I like especially due to having a small dishwasher and cabinets. |
Op here. Thank you for the comments above.
Wanted to get a sense before I get there...didn't want to absolutely overwhelmed once I am there! But |
And I have to say I like that you can buy sets of plates and bowls. So many other sets include cups and mugs, which I don't need. |
I recently was at a dinner party and loved the sturdy feeling round white plates. I snuck a look at the bottom of the plate, since I've been looking for new dishes and was shocked it was ikea. I don't know how they hold up, but considering I had been eyeing crate and barrell, I was happy to add ikea to the list to consider. |
We have the round dinnerware plates, very plain, in different solid colors. No clue what the product line is called. But they are reasonably sturdy and cheap enough that if a plate chips or DD drops one, it's NBD. The colors are fun and complement our "nice" everyday dishes.
I agree with PP, for very young kids (DS2) I still prefer white Corelle. He'll graduate to Ikea at some point, and onwards. |
No, I don't have one. Wanted to make sure before I get one. Thanks to this threat. |
