We really liked royal pacific!

They occasionally are on hotwire or priceline but it's a gamble.

We LOVED the retro 50s one....Cabana Bay. New and super nice. You get early entrance to the park and can buy the express passes separately if you want.

Portofino is lovely, but kids preferred Hard Rock.

I'm pretty sure Royal P and Hard Rock are the better two.

Stayed at the Hard Rock last June. Kids were 8 and 10. They loved the pool and the location can't be beat. A five minute walk to the park.

Note that I think only RP and Portofino give you the free express pass. We looked online and it was cheaper to stay at the RP then to stay at one of the other ones that gives you early entry and buy the Express pass separately.

Hard Rock is the closest to the park, though.

Royal pacific is great because you really feel like you are at a resort. Also rooms have been recently renovated. Totally worth the price to get the Express pass...would not go without them

Yeah, this was the deciding factor to us. With Hard Rock, you can walk back and forth in a few minutes. This is also why we stay in the Contemporary at Disney. A quick, easy walk is golden.

We got the free express pass when we stayed at the Hard Rock.

Recently stayed at Hard Rock and loved it! As others have said, the proximity to the parks is fantastic. Was great to go to the parks in the morning, head back to the pool mid-day to relax, then a bit more park time after dinner. Rooms were fine - pretty standard fare.

What's the pool like at Hard Rock? What else is there that kids love?

The pool has a small water slide, and a lot of beach entry areas. They have live entertainers at the poolside bar. It's a fun pool.

We stayed on the concierge level and used it for breakfast and happy hour. Our 2-double room had a comfortable pull-out couch and the 4 of us fit in the room very well.

Kids also liked the Friday night dinner with the Magician who visits your table and does a few tricks.
