I still save the Boxtops, but it seems like so little money for the schools is it worth the trouble?
|
| I used to be the Box Top Coordinator for my DDs school. We had 600 students. If everyone sent in at least 10 ($1.00), that was $600. It's a decent amount of money if everyone participates. |
| I used to, but I figured out the money is wasted in yacky hot dogs and pizzas for the teachers, I decided to stop the box top. |
| I do. |
That's too bad. We would put the money in our PA budget, and it was allocated towards something educational (usually library books or teacher supplies). |
| I just don't understand questioning something that is basically free money. For minimum effort of ripping off a piece of a cardboard box, sticking it in a ziploc and sending it in with your child every so often, the school receives money. It isn't as if each parent has to trim the Box Tops or bundle to send in. The coordinator does all the work so it really could not be simpler for parents. |
| I usually collect about $15-$20 worth a year. I guess if a hundred families did the same it would be $1500-$2000 for a school, |
| We have a small private school and received a check for $223 for the fall semester. We'll get another one in the Spring. For minimal effort, its a nice bonus. |
Ha. Probably the PTA cheesy ladies think donuts, oily pizzas and hot dogs as educational.
|
That's how I feel about it. I don't go out of my way to buy the brands that do the boxtops program, but I've always bought tons of Cheerios and Annie's mac and cheese which participate. My kid's school of about 400 students has earned about $450 so far this school year. |
| Our kids school gets about $2,000 a year. They make it a fun competition for the kids, so yes I collect them. Plus it's easy if you get in the habit of ripping off the boxtop and saving it before recycling something. |
| Sure, we do. As PPs have said, why not? It's basically zero effort on my part and some money for the school. Even if they get just $100, that's something for basically free. |
| We do it, but my 3rd grader has been the one finding them, cutting them out, and saving them. Zero effort on my part. |
| Yes I collect then. Our school gets a couple thousand dollars a year with them. |
What's wrong with pizza and hot dogs for the teachers? They're economical choices to have food for teacher meetings. At my office, I always appreciate when meetings have food/drinks even if it's basic stuff. Why should it be different for teachers? They deserve our respect and appreciation. |
