How to store bagels?

Anonymous
Sorry if this is too basic. I'm a guy.

If I buy fresh bagels from the bagel shop, like 6 in a paper bag, how should I store them? Is leaving them in the bag for a few days OK?

I find that they start to go stale after a day in the bag. I slice any I'm not going to eat and put them in the freezer.

Freeze the ones you aren't eating today. You can take them out the night before you if you won't have time to defrost in the morning.

Great. Thank you.

When they cook transfer to plastic bag and store either in fridge for shorter periods (2-3 days) or freezer if it will take you longer than that to eat them. They will dry out in the paper bag.

+1. That way you can defrost in the toaster.

Plastic bag on the counter will last for a few days. Unless you have salt bagels and everything bagels with salt. I have found they don't last long frozen or on the counter. And store them separately from the others.

LOL, you sound like my brother.

Anyway, I agree with storing the ones you don't eat in the freezer.

Cut in 1/2 and freeze. Then toast and enjoy.
