Thoughts?
Is it crowded and chaotic or is well organized? |
|
It really depends on the specific location, the SES of the families in that school area, and the quality of the management within that zone.
But, by and large, it leans more toward the chaotic rather than "well organized." When it comes to camps, you pretty much get what you've paid for. Rec Pac is good for giving your child something to do during lazy summer days rather than sit at home and play video games. It puts them in social contact with other kids. It's low cost. If you are spending more on other camps or travel during the summer and need a bit more activities that don't cost alot, then REc Pac is an option. IF you don't have a lot of money -- then this could be THE summer option. But, if you are thinking of doing a private or even rec center camp vs. Rec Pac and you can afford either, then I would suggest paying the extra cost and doing either private camp or rec center. |
| Rec-PAC Is a great program at a low cost. My kids loved it and even cried on the last day because they didn't want it to end. The only thing I do not like is their hours. The activities and staff are great along with the price. They really seem to care about the kids which is something rare now days. By the end of the first week all the staff seemed to know every child's name which I thought was great! My kids have gone for two summers and we plan on going back this year. |
Which Rec-PAC did your children go? Sounds like it was a well run program. |
| I know this is an old forum, but I wanted to post my experiences with Rec-Pac. It seems that some of the camps are well run, however, majority of the sites are fun by high school students and college students looking for cash. At one site, we had a leader who called a kid a vulgar name. We also had kids who were bullying and nothing was done about it because the camps owner felt it was unfair to kick the kids out. I have also heard from multiple workers that the owner has told them to get as much money as they could from parents. I would NOT recommend these camps. |
