I think many of us must be looking at visiting Dutch Wonderland. Anyway we went to Hershey last month and were so glad we stayed overnight. The 2 1/2 hr drive from NOVA is just too much for a day trip.
Since DW is just about the same length of drive, would love any hotel recommendations near DW? Do any have a shuttle to the park? What do you do if it rains? Any places with pools? TIA. |

We stayed right across the street at the Country Inn and Suites. It does have an indoor pool and includes breakfast.
We haven't had an issue with it raining - I suppose if we saw the forecast was for rain all day each day we were supposed to be there, we'd cancel and reschedule. Depending on the ages of your kids, you could do this as a day trip. We did it yesterday, just took our 4 year old (left the 21 month old at daycare), went up, rode the rides, did whatever she wanted to do, then came back in time for daycare pick-up. Granted, we live in suburban md, so it's just over a 2 hour drive for us, but it was very doable. I probably wouldn't do it with a kid younger than 4 though. |

Agree with the Country Inn and Suites. Make sure you book at that one and not just the Country Inn (totally different hotel - and seedy.)
Willow Valley Resort is about 15 minutes away and they have a little indoor water park and an restaurant on site. We stayed there too - but prefer the County Inn and Suites. |
| We went up there over 4th of July and while we didn't go to Dutch Wonderland, we passed it several times en route to other places. We stayed at the Best Western Eden Resort. We had a 2 room suite with a bathroom in the middle. The rooms were recently renovated with flat screen tvs and granite counters in the bathroom. Room prices were not too bad - $150/night. The hotel also has 3 pools and a playground which my kids LOVED. They asked to go there each night after dinner and it was a good way to wind down the day. It also has two restaurants which were not bad either. I would say it was about 10 minutes from Dutch Wonderland and centrally located to other things as well. |
| Another vote for the Country Inn and Suites. It's literally right across the street. We were able to go to the park when we arrived, walk across the street for a slightly early check-in and DD was able to take a short nap, and then we walked back to enjoy more park time in the late-afternoon/evening. The next day we took a horse and buggy ride before heading back home. Enjoy. |
| We stayed at the Amish Inn and Suites. |
| we also did counrty inn and suites but i won't stay there again- it wasn't awful but borderline.. room was dingy- felt dirty.. the free breakfast was barely edible (cheap imitation cereal- old eggs)- i'd stick to courtyard or hampton inn if you want a regular room- we want the two rooms so we're trying best western eden this time and hope it's as nice as it seems.. |
