We are new to the area and debating between public and private. I'd love feedback on Washington Grove Elementary from current parents. Thank you!
(Please excuse me if there is a similar thread on this buried below) |

i know a family in that neighbourhood but they chose Private option, until their kid got magnet public school
might have been their personal preference |
| Washington Grove ES will be part of a new pilot program, along with Brown Station ES, for two-way Spanish immersion next year. I don't have a lot of details about it, but it will begin with kindergarten only next year, and presumably expand each year. As far as I know, it will not be a lottery and only available to in-boundary students. |

Does all of Washington Grove feed into Washington Grove ES?
I know of someone mentioning that they were happy with their elementary school. But also said that for middle school a lot of people start choosing private. It looks like Washington Grove ES and Forest Oak MS are planned to be rezoned to Magruder instead of Gaithersburg: http://gis.mcpsmd.org/boundarystudypdfs/ShadyGroveSectorPlan_BoundaryStudy.pdf |
| Washington Grove is a great school from what I have head! |
| I was going to mention the rezoning as well. Apparently Washington Grove ES in particular is expected to be over-crowded soon with some of the new home developments in the area. |
When would they implement this? Would all homes assigned to Washington Grove, forest Oak, and Gaithersburg be transferred to Magrudedr? Would that apply to th ES and MS too? Just wondering. Magrudedr is a way better school than Gaithersburg, though that's not saying much. |
It would likely be rolled out so that students don't switch schools. For example, one year all 8th graders in the zone would then be sent to Magruder instead of Gburg, rather than current Gburg students being forced to move to Magruder the next year. |
