Please be kind, I am going out on a limb and hoping not to be totally made fun of
I am in the process of a nasty divorce - the father of my 3 year old child and soon to be ex-husband has decided to leave rather abruptly. I just began working again after staying home. My current salary ~$50k a year. We haven't spoken enough to decide any details but he was previously covering childcare. His intentions are to move cross country and until things are settled by the court which could take years at the current rate, I need to figure out my best options for childcare or Montessori. My daughter's birthday is in late October to APS public Montessori is out of the question. Are there any other *affordable* Montessori options? We're currently in Arlington, I'm working in DC.

thanks for any help! just trying to do my best in a less than ideal situation, ha ha.

OP, you might try http://homestretchva.org/ in Falls Church

They have a heart for families going through a tough patch, especially single moms.

God speed!

I live in Maryland and don't know about schools in VA, but I wonder if a pre-school is the right choice right now. Schools have set hours, days off, and very little flexibility when you need care options. Can you find a nanny share? Or do you have a friend who is sending their child to a school that you can partner with? Single parenting is hard and you're going to need a support network.

All that said, I wish you lots of luck and hope you can be strong during this difficult time.
