Can jeans be let out in the waist?

I am in between sizes in Jcrew Matchstick jeans. I bought the smaller size because the larger size is too baggy in the legs and butt. The smaller size fits well, but is a hair to snug at the waist and gives me muffin. Have you ever had jeans let out at the waist? The waistband seems like one tube of fabric so I don't know how it would be done.

No you can't because there isn't available fabric as there is in dress trousers. Sorry.

No. But you can stretch the waist, especially easy if they have a bit of spandex in the fabric content. Either way, wash your jeans and then put them in the dryer for only about 20 minutes. Take them out and give them a good pull by grasping the waistband at both sides. If the rise is a little snug you can put you foot in the crotch and pull up a bit.

I know this sounds crazy, but I use this method almost every January after putting on a few pounds during the holidays. This saves me from having to buy bigger jeans until I get back in shape.

You can reposition the button to give you a tiny bit of extra room. Otherwise, you can have "triangles" sewn into the sides of the waistband. Think of little wedges of fabric. I know people that did this to wear jeans while pregnant.
