I want to tranfer 3, RE says 2

My history: 1 year of charting with no success, dx at SGF of PC Ovaries, 1 timed intercourse cycle with Clomid: no success, 3 IUIs: no success, fresh IVF and dx of right-sided hydrosalpinx during retrieval: chemical pregnancy, tube removal, 3 FETs (transferring 2 blasts and 3 blasts): 2 chemical pregnancies, 2nd fresh IVF this time with Lovenox for suspected but unfound clotting problem: success but along side my now son was a blighted ovum. My son is 13 months. I'm currently 29 years old.

SO... I thought since we had success with Lovenox, my problem may have very well been a undiagnosed clotting issue. However, I think there is a possibility still that although I tend to produce many healthy beautiful blasts, that there is something chromosomal going on, especially in light of that blighted ovum twin in my successful pregnancy.

We are trying for 3 months naturally and on our own with Lovenox in the 2ww...just to see what happens. So far the first cycle didn't work. After the third, we're going to go in for a FET with blasts from my successful cycle.

RE says 2, I say, 3. I just think if its chromosomal, transferring 3 gives us the best odds. What do you think?

I think 2, FET transfer using embryos from a successful cycle have better chance of success. Having had twins (and watching many friends struggle with higher order multiples -- 3 and 4) I would say your doctor is being responsible and trying to keep you from getting pregnant with triplets. Because of your age, I'm sure his thinking is you have plenty of time and he doesn't want to risk your health to increase his statistics. Good for him!

Ultimately, I think this is your decision given you are paying for the procedure because you're not asking for a crazy number like 5 or 8!!!!, but would you REALLY be happy to find yourself pregnant and on bedrest with triplets and a young toddler at home??

Finally, if the FET doesn't work and you're really concerned about chromosomal issues you might seek a clinic that does testing on blasts before transfer.

Best of luck!

I'd transfer 2. At your age the probability of three sticking is too high (even considering) with prior history.

I too have friends with triplets and its really really tough. Triplets are almost always born very early which can lead to all kinds of problems, mom's of triplets tend to be on bedrest a very long time, and the stress on a family and marriage from higher order multiples is significant.

Of course if you are willing to down select then you should tell your RE that, but only if you really mean it.

By the way, I have a friend who transfered two and still got triplets (one egg split).

Good luck!

I am a firm believer in only putting back what you can handle. As a mother of twins, I can only imagine how hard triplets would be.
