Infertility Support and Discussion

At what point did you decide to go see an acupuncturist for help getting pregnant? I am 32 and we have been trying for #2 for 7 months now. I am doing the clomid challenge test this month, per my OB, and FSH on day 2 came back at 9.5, which concerned her as it was borderline (what is "borderline" in this situation anyway), and she said that it might be a good idea to go see an RE after this.
Anyway, my question is - is it too early to go try acupuncture too? If not, anyone have good recommendations in the Bethesda area? Thanks. |

There's always Pulling Down the Moon in Rockville. There's also another acupuncturist that Shady Grove Fertility recommends. Can't remember her name but she's an older woman with a well established practice. I believe she's in Bethesda. Call Shady Grove and ask them.
I would do acupuncture for several months before TTC. |
| For what it's worth, I'm 32 and my FSH is also about 9.5, and none of the 3 RE's I've seen were at all concerned about it. That's not to say that you are in the clear, but FSH may not be your issue (as least based on what I was told at Shady Grove, Dominion and GW). Good luck! Also, I see Lisa Eaves at Heal from Within at Tentleytown for accupuncture. She is great - and also runs a wonderful support group. |
| I see Kerri Westhauser who will be in Dupont (new location) as of this week as well as in Bethesda and Falls Church. She was recommended by my RE and works with a lot of patients from Columbia Fertility. She was actually a consultant when SG was setting up Pullling Down the Moon. She has a website if you Google her. |
| I saw Yun Brown in Silver Spring, not far from Bethesda. She specializes in reproductive health and is fantastic. I ovulated for the first time and got pregnant after 5 months of weekly treatments with her and no fertility drugs (have PCOS). |
| the other acupuncturist that works with shady grove patients is zoe brenner--she is no longer in bethesda--she's now in rockville off nicholson dr. |
| people post a lot about lisa eaves, deb earley and kerri westhauser--i am trying to decide which one to make an appt. with. does it basically come down to a difference in personality and compatibility or is there a difference in level of expertise, skill, etc.? |
| It is definitely not too early! We are in our late 30s and I only waited two cycles before deciding to try acupuncture. My first full cycle of acupuncture plus herbs, I got pregnant! Good luck. |
