salamander or inn at perry cabin

Looking for a night away/ anniversary trip at the end of April

Are either of them truly worth $500/night?

No the service at both is pretty dismal at both and rooms aren't all that.

Do Ritz or four seasons in Georgetown.

Or Four Seasons Baltimore, just don't eat at Mina's restaurant there. It is terrible.

I like Inn at Perry Cabin. No way in hell would I spend my night out at a hotel in Georgetown or Baltimore.

I don't think Salamander is worth $500. We didn't expect Harrimans to be the best, but considering it was pretty bad, it factored into my negative opinion. we wanted a relaxing evening without having to leave the resort.

If you are going for a couples weekend isn't the quality of the hotel more important than the location?

Been to both. I like Inn at Perry Cabin much better. Definitely not the 4 seasons.

Inn at Perry Cabin caters more to adults, feels smaller/more intimate. That would be my choice for an anniversary.

I love Salamander so I'd vote for that.

I haven't been to the Salamander but we did go to the Inn at Perry Cabin for our 10th anniversary. It's a lovely place (great food), but it is an old building and a little old-fashioned too. If you like that go for it, but if you want something more modern perhaps a different hotel would be better.

So what is a good place besides the usual: L'Auberge, Salamander, Perry Cabin, and that one in Paris, Va., for a special anniversary get away nearby?

Well I think it's a win win......inn at perry cabin if the weather is warm, strolling while looking at the boats is extremely romantic and relaxing, lots of little please to steal away and have a brandy.......salamander is NEW money...and it's gorgeous, walk to the stables and see the horses, or go on a ride...spa is fantastic (Spa at perry cabin is fairly lame)........another thought might be Keswick Hall...we may go for my 50th (have not been yet so no input, just has been on my wish list)

If you do decide to go to salamander, book the reservations for spa and dining really early. We went and I called a week ahead for spa appointments, and they were all full by then. They told me I should have made them 4-6 weeks out. We also were not able to get reservations at the nicer restaurant until 9 pm any of the evenings we were there. Ended up eating at the pub type place which was just OK. There are some nice restaurants nearby, but it annoyed me we paid so much and couldn't use any of the resort places. Apparently they sold discount vouchers on travel zoo for the spa and so were full. I thought that was pretty crappy.
We did like the rooms and the resort overall. I don't think it's worth the price, though.

The Four Seasons Baltimore has a really nice pool. Would be fun to go in the summer.

Look at the White Moose Inn in Washington, VA. It's very chic, super comfortable and the staff is great. You can splurge and go to the Inn at Little Washington for dinner but there are other good places to eat in and near the town. And it's an easy drive from DC.
