Kindercare Arlington reviews

Does anyone have recent experience with KinderCare in Arlington? The feedback I found on this forum was from 2008 and it was pretty bad. My son is almost 1 year old.

I highly recommend against Kindercare. I worked there many years ago and they have many tricks to increase their profits. Any for-profit child care is unlikely to be good. Stick with ones that are using church facilities if you can. It cuts the overhead enormously.

Check the on-line state inspection reports for that facility... that place has a bad record.

The center was supposed to close a year or so ago so most of the families that were there left for other centers. When I was there, I never had issues -- my children were well taken care of, and my eldest was extremely well prepared for kindergarten. Can't say the same for where my younger kids are now.
That having been said, I left right after the current director started. She was off -- something about her was just strange, and I've heard most of the parents thought she was disorganized. You should see if there is still a roach problem -- there wasn't one when I started at the center, but then there was a lot of turn over with directors, and there was a bad pest problem by the time we left. That combined with the good teachers leaving the preschool rooms were the main reason we left.

The toddler room was great -- they had a number of great teachers while I was there, though most of them did not speak english well. Ms Ya ya is a great, loving woman. So is Ms Theresa, and Ms Kia in the twos.

We are currently at a much bigger center, but Kindercare was a great environment when we first started because the teachers were consistent and they were all very good. That devolved more and more as there was turn over with the management. If they got back to the way it was circa 2010, then I would highly recommend it.

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds pretty awful. Is it worth considering for short term/ temporary solution?

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds pretty awful. Is it worth considering for short term/ temporary solution? I forgot to mention earlier that this facility is being used by my employer as a back up child care facility. So I will be using it for a couple of weeks or so. My son has a lot of food allergies and I am worried about negligence based on what you have described. But at the same time I don't have a lot option for this temporary circumstance.

Gross. I would rather use vacation time than stick my kid in a daycare with roaches. That is truly awful.

If those food allergies are life threatening, then I'd be worried.

I wouldn't worry about food allergies (I'm the pp from before). Most of the parents that stayed after the second director started were parents of kids with either special needs, medical conditions, or extreme food allergies. They stayed because they felt comfortable with the staff there, whereas it would be risky moving to a new center where they may not be as vigilant.
The teachers that stayed were great-- it's really unfortunate the management was so bad and that corporate Kindercare didn't maintain the facility.

I'm going to check it out on Monday. I'm looking for a place for my four year-old for the summer.
