DP. "Do your own research" is nearly always said by people who lack the capacity to do actual research. It's a QAnon, anti-vaxxer phrase. |
The 'black don't crack' poster.
I am assuming its a female and she has some really big issues. |
People who go on and on about research and studies and clearly have no knowledge of evaluating the quality of a study and what the data actually mean. |
Perfect! |
The ones obsessed with other women's looks and wrinkles and old-age faux-pas. It makes me really sad to think there are women who waste their lives worrying about stupid stuff like that. |
Oh! I have one group! The redshirt posters who make sweeping statements about how "studies show" that <fill in the blank with some crazy outrageous generalization about youngest or oldest kids>. I know the actual research in this area well and there are literally no studies that are anywhere near as conclusive as the wildly broad statements these posters make. It's nuts. It's done by people both pro or against, though it's worse with the against crowd. Then again, that's not entirely fair because there are some seriously disturbed anti-redshirt posters that skew the group. |
The person who posts in every mommy war thread that she can cite many scientific studies that conclude unequivocally that children are actually better off in daycare than being home with a parent when they are young. |
Agreed! All those threads are tiresome. There is another poster on them who cites "studies" from other dubious sources where the main point is if you even dare to have a part time job and use a nanny or daycare it is the developmental equivalent of dropping your kid off at some Romanian orphanage under Ceausescu for the first 5 years of their life. Both are wrong. |
If you met my mom, you'd agree a nanny or day care was better. ![]() |
I find the thread police annoying, I don’t mind side bars. If they’re not relevant, I skip them. What I do find even more annoying are people who haven’t figured out how to post and screw up their formatting. Or that one poster who purposefully posts on top of the quote. The Marilyn Manson side bar was a good example. It’s just not that hard! |
Side bars that derail the thread are against DCUM policy, so while you may not mind, Jeff frequently deletes. Personally (even as someone.who has had posts deleted because of that) I think that's the right policy. It's easy to start new threads. |
YES! And they do it post after post. If you are a repeat offender, and you know who you are, click PREVIEW instead of SUBMIT so you can see if you fcked up the formatting before you post. |
“Sweetie”
“Darling” “Do keep up” “Work on your reading comprehension” (after misunderstanding your post) “This” “+million” (sorry, you are one person) Posters assuming every other poster is female X is wrong with my child: “it’s because they live with you” |
People who talk about schools like TJ who graduated 20+ years ago. Times change. Schools change. |
