Parks issues the permits, not LS. So if you have the permits, what is the issue?

The club has been around since the 70’s. Enough said, I’d call that success.

Anyhow FCV clown is back on this forum with his inferiority complex. FCV has only one good girls team per age group in the U13 and older divisions. This is not due to some superior method or coaching. It is due to their approach to a soccer club (focus on top older girls teams only) and the luck they found themselves in with having a DA program where they stole away Loudoun's best players post DA merge a few years ago. The rest of their teams and coaches are garbage and they know it so they desperately cling to picking on other clubs, be it LS or Metro or McLean or Bethesda or Arlington or VDA or BRYC, etc. Again, not saying Loudoun has some great stable of coaches and that Loudoun handled refunds well, but FCV offered nothing back to their parents either of any substantial difference. It just that when you’re the big boy on the block, as LS is in this county, it is easier to get bad press and easier for #2 to take pot shots. Meanwhile FCV should purge all teams and simply play GA girls U13 and over. 6 teams total. Be a boutique side show to TSJ and up the fees on those parents as they will pay anything to be able to brag about their daughter. It’s kinda like Dance Moms. Actually that would be the smart thread in this forum: how much would you be willing to pay to have your daughter play for FCVs GA team. We could start with a certain influential local pro soccer figure for that answer ... oh sorry, did I offend someone? And no I won’t apologize for the comment as if you’re willing to do that you deserve criticism. Club and parent.

So I think I speak for a large portion of the community when I ask that Loudoun parents to just STFU.

25-40-7 combined from ECNL, CCL and NCSL. Stop pointing fingers and look in the mirror. LS is a underachieving club in the worst way. You really should figure out what your club’s problems are before you worry about what FCV should be doing.

I’m sure there is a lot of truth to the criticisms of LS.

But the fact of the matter is LS has what FCV so desperately wants/needs—a spot in the ECNL. There is a good chance Arlington will get girls ECNL and FCV won’t. They can look forward to a lot of 14-0 league games in the GA next year. I guess it is a good thing the GA took the word development out of their name.

Attribute FCV’s success to nothing more than luck if you want, but FCV has had strong coaching in their program with coaches like Terry Foley, Julie Shackford, Richie Burke, Gus Donolo, Marvin Johnson, etc. Julie Shackford coached at Princeton prior to FCV and is now at W&M. Richie Burke was an asst with DC United, Academy Dir and pro coach in Scotland prior to FCV and is now at Spirit. Loudoun Soccer doesn’t have coaches with anywhere near those credentials. They have some of the highest salaries, but not the highest level of credentials. See that there is a disconnect there?

Maybe FCV will sustain, maybe they will fall apart. Either way, Loudoun Soccer has all the resources a club could ask for and had a subpar showing as a DA club. For the most part, they’ve maintained the status quo as they’ve transitioned to ECNL. I’d keep expectations in check.

They gained valuable players when Loudoun walked over their 04, 05 red teams and allowed them to pick their best. (At that time, Loudoun 04, 05 were the best). I can go on but wont. FCVs hallmark team was stolen from SYA.

Now, I agree with you on Loudoun. I really dont like that organization.

FCV will struggle to relevant in the coming years. LS will survive and get things sorted out. You don’t survive 40+ years unless you know how to do some things right

L$ is only capable of retaining their coaches due to the exorbitant and out of touch salaries they provide. Don’t fool yourself, I personally know 2 ECNL coaches that would leave the club is someone else paid them the same. Out of respect I’ll keep their names out.
