| Where do novice runner's start out? How much is the race that you are sharing? |
|
I don't follow your second question.
Just google 5k finder and pick one that appeals to you: course, location, price, charity, etc |
| I know what OP is asking, For a flat easy first run, nothing hilly or to strenuous.....right OP? |

There's a GW 1-miler that's part of a larger race in Old Town. That's where we started.

There's a 5k every Friday in April in Crystal City. Its Metro accessible, very mixed crowd/paces. If you register in March, it's $20/race or all four for $75. https://www.runpacers.com/race/crystal-city-5k-fridays/

is a great site to find races. I don't know exactly where you are, but I've had good experiences at the PR race series races https://potomac.enmotive.com/ in Northern VA. Also, now that it's spring a lot of elementary schools hold 5ks that are open to the public. It's a good way to find a race that is VERY local (maybe even your neighborhood school that you can walk to!) and support your local school. |

This is the best website for races that I now of. You can review the approximately 80 gazillion 5ks in the DC/VA/MD area that will be occurring over the next few months.
You can find all kinds from close to your house and low key to huge and logistically complex. http://runningintheusa.com/Race/List.aspx?Rank=Upcoming&Special=5K&State=VA&Page=1 |

falls church city has a free 3k on memorial day.
but i'd say a 5k is typically a really good starting point and with so many to choose from you can always find one to match up with your training program and sign up last minute. |
| A 5K is a starter race don't do look for a 1 miler those are for kids. goal is to finish, bonus if you finish and can claim you didnt walk. |
