40+ TTC for over 2 years, told have less than 1% chance of getting pregnant, and now have a + TEST!

Anonymous
I guess I am just posting this as encouragement to others -- I'd given up on "trying" after two years with DH (who is 50+) and we'd even gotten a puppy as our "child" -- as we'd been told we had less than 1% chance of conceiving naturally - and were uncomfortable with IVF -- but we're surprised to get a positive pregnancy test and am 6 weeks along -- fingers crossed as have had miscarriages in the past -- but there is hope out there --- just sharing the story -- for others who, like me, had basically given up on hope.

Fingers crossed..... When went to the doctor and folks said "congratulations!" feel like they should instead say "you've made it this far, we'll hold off on congratulating for another few months but good luck" and etc......

That's great OP! Hope it works out.

Congrats, OP! I'm 39, been TTC for 2.5 years, and am ready to give up. Never seen a BFP. I was also told a 1% chance, even though my numbers are all pretty good. It is so hard but it's encouraging to hear success stories like yours!

OP here - thanks! Hang in there - you never know what the future holds. Dumb-struck that this test came back positive.... I'd truly given up. So you never know.

Congrats. You never know. My neighbors are clearly over 40. Not sure about the wife's age, but husband said they had tried infertility treatments for a while and gave up like 9 years ago. They just had a girl less than a year ago and it was a complete accident. Btw I had my kids at 38 and 41 (all naturally conceived).

Congratulations OP! I know how you feel, I was 31 but also was given a <1% chance, TTC for 5+ years. So cool to finally see 2 pink lines after taking millions of pregnancy tests

This is so ridiculous to say. I have three friends who had babies when they were in their early 30's and have passed away. Nothing is guaranteed.

Congrats, OP. I hope you enjoy this journey. And thanks for posting. I can tell you sincerely want others to know there is hope!

+1 Don't be nasty PP--it reduces your lifespan.
