Chance of pregnancy on minipill?

Anonymous
I am 5.5 months pp and have been on the mini-pill. I pretty much suck at taking the stupid thing (which I own up to and my DH knows) but it has been the only option since I was breastfeeding. Anyway yesterday I suddenly got nauseous and threw up totally out of the blue. Feel fine today so I am pretty sure its not a stomach virus or anything.

What are the chances I am pregnant? I haven't gotten my period back yet so I can't use that as a measuring stick of when to take a pregnancy test or not. I really hope I am not pregnant.

Why not take a pregnancy test to see?
I would see your midwife or OB and ask to have an IUd inserted if you are not pregnant. My midwife urged me to go with Ann iUd over the mini pill because you need to take the mini pill at the same time each day for it to be fully effective.

The mini-pill absolutely must be taken every day at the same time to ensure it is effective. I have known 2 women who became pregnant on the mini-pill. One of them turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy which she felt was due to the pill. You should take a pregnancy test.

I know 2 people pregnant on it.

Every day at the same time, and you're good. Otherwise, protection is not the touted 99%.

OP here ... ugh just took a Wondfo test and I can't tell if there is a slight second line or not. Its hardly noticeable if there is one. I don't have any more Wondfo tests left so I will have to take a FRER I guess tomorrow. Hopefully it was just a trick of the eye or line eye and not a real second line.

Ebf, cosleeping, no bottles or pacifiers, took my Mini pill every day at exact time.....found out I was pregnant at 4 mos pregnant. Kids are just under 13 months apart.

OP here ... that is terrifying lol. I just finished EPing (was not BFing at all). First two kids are only 19 months apart. I am seriously hoping there won't be a 3rd in the mix. That would be 3 under 3. Shoot me.

The minipill is not the only option for someone who is breastfeeding. There are several IUDs available that are compatible with breastfeeding. Also, there are always barrier methods.

Wishing you're not pregnant.

Your husband should get a vasectomy.

I hear you. I'm PP, had three in 37 months. I actually love it, but you have to have a certain type of personality/drive to handle it, that's for sure!

Did you take the other test OP?

Ha ... nope! Didn't end up having time this morning. Both kids were up all night sick. Ugh. Will shoot for tomorrow.

If you have a FRER you should be able to take it during the day - it is super sensitive.

My OB warned that risk of pregnancy is very high unless you take it at the exact time every day. I chose to get an IUD instead... which has had its own issues better left addressed in another thread, lol.
