| Does FCPS have tampons in the bathrooms if so are they free? I got into a Facebook fight with my neighbor when she posted this video saying they should be free. I told her I don't want my tax dollars to pay for it. Some Women in Africa don't even use tampons so the girls in America won't die from it. |
|
I know last Novemeber when I went to voted I used the girls bathroom and noticed the tampon thing but didn't know if they were free or they were any there
|
| that was an elementary school |
| I don't know about FCPS, but at the school where I work, if you need a pad you go see the nurse. This way the girls are responsible for their own needs, but have a backup if they need it. |
You sound like an amazing person. |
Wow. I hope you don't have daughters and aren't a woman. |
I am not young, but this is the way it worked when I was in high school. I'm guessing that is the way it works in most schools. Some idiot in NY (I think it was a Congresswoman) wrote that girls were staying home from school because of lack of supplies. I'm betting the schools still have supplies available everywhere in the US. |
| So much money is wasted in a district as big as fcps. The tampons are nothing. |
I'm with you OP. The other pp's have fallen into the "women are only victims held down by patriarchy" bullshit. I'm a woman that started her period at the age of 10 and have never expected free shit and survived just fine. |
| I am in an FCPS elementary school. There are 25 cent (I think that's the cost, I'll have to double check) machines in the staff bathrooms. |
|
If they were dispensed free from a machine they would disappear on a daily basis, probably first thing in the morning, every morning.
Nurse should hand them out free as needed. |
| Really? With all the budget issues in FCPS, the think you can't get over is that some kids might get free tampons? This was worth a FB fight with your neighbor? I'd hate to be your neighbor. |
This. You can't just put free stuff in the bathrooms or they will disappear instantly. Girls can always get what they need from the nurse. |
Are you aware that many girls in Africa DON'T GO TO SCHOOL when they get their periods? |
| My nurse always had them available, and in middle school the gym teacher put a little tray in the locker room. |
