The Cove/Atlantis

Anyone have any recent experience at The Cove at Atlantis? Would be for a long weekend, no kids. I'm aware of the bedbug articles from several months ago, and that food is expensive, but other than that, worth it?

I'm also interested in any feedback!

Generally speaking, Atlantis is gross, crowded and overpriced. And the food is terrible and expensive.

If you don't have to go there for a specific reason, go elsewhere.

Assuming you are looking for a short, direct flight for a long weekend: Mexico, Jamaica, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, etc.

Except for yeh REALLY expensive part, this was not our experience at all. The water park is spread out, the resort is clean, and the casino is fun. We did find the more family friendly hotels a.little crazy, but the Cove was beautiful. And the adult only pool and gambling by the pool--awesome.

Some tips. Stay far away from the elevatots if you can a d order room service for breakfast and poolside service for lunch Much cheaper than the expensive buffets.

You must have a higher tolerance for crowds.

I have to agree with the others. They may have put it a bit crudely but all this is true. I truly felt as if I were in a cattle chute, being directed throughout the property. The attractions are nice, and I loved the aquarium parts of Atlantis. The baby hammerhead sharks - adorable. But it just wasn't fun negotiating the crowds and lines.

And yes the food is overpriced and the quality was poor. I was surprised by how poor it was. I work in a school and I honestly would say the $$$ pizza there looked and tasted just like the pizza in our school cafeteria.

I'd look elsewhere as well, especially since there are no kids involved. The appeal of this place drops thousandfold when you're not a kid.

Our last stay was a few years ago, but we've stayed several times at the Cove with DS in tow. It does have the adults only pool, which is quite beautiful and not as manic as the rest of the park. There is also a private pool for all ages, and you will find families here with little kids in tow. Again, much calmer than the rest of the resort. The last time we were there, there was a gaggle of older teens teasing and pitying one of their group for having to fly in commercial. ? But mostly, it was a pretty relaxed crowd.

Have you actually been there? Gross is subjective, but it's definitely not dirty, and I've never had any issues with bedbugs. There is a huge range of food places to eat. Of course it's expensive, what resort isn't?

The think I like about the cove is that it's removed from everything else, and they have their own pool with I miss allowed and you can easily get a private cabana. We always stay in the concierge level which has free evening cocktail and we usually make a lunch out of the snacks that they have out. The staff there knows you by name, and they are very friendly and helpful. You can gamble right at the pool if you don't want to go to the "cheesy" casino.

WE loved it! Had nachos or burgers at water park (pretty affordable) and offsite pizza from plaza or johnny rockets for dinner, and brought one suitcase of water, wine, popcorn (for movies), cereal, fruit etc. Made it rally affordable. Also went Veterans Day weekend and had no issues with crowding.

The fact that you had to bring a suitcase filled with snacks underscores the ridiculousness of Atlantis.

There are tons of better places to spend your money. Why pick that resort?

My biggest beef with them is that they are a cruise ship destination. Day passes are sold to cruise trippers as well as people staying at other nearby hotels. The resort is overcrowded and overpriced for what it is. You pay Ritz Carlton prices for McDonald's level of food and service.

Seconded. I wasted 15 grand on a vacation here. Food poisoning abounded. Pool was not heated (not good in the winter, as the days can get cool). Very expensive overall and you get bare bones for it.

I take my AP there, saying I'm on a "business trip".
