| What holidays did you include in your final custody agreement? Was Easter weekend a big deal? Or do you lump in in with spring break (since most public school spring breaks happen over that weekend)? Or not have any language about it at all? |

My agreement has all federal holidays (columbus day, MLK, memorial day, labor day, Thanksgiving, etc) and all religious holidays (Christmas, Easter). We alternate every year, but my ex lives far away so he tends to get most 3-day weekend holidays unless I have family or something special going on and its "my year".
Easter usually falls over spring break, so I get easter the same years I get spring break. |

We got detailed about summer, Thanksgiving, winter and spring break. We said that any holiday Monday is just added onto the custodial weekend. It seems to have worked out fairly well, I haven't counted, but seems to me I get some of the Mondays and he gets some of the Mondays.
Interpreting summer and winter break has been challenging enough for us, that I'm glad we don't have a lot of nuttiness about every Federal holiday. Basically even the things you think are crystal clear may not be, so you and your X have to have the spirit of wanting to support the spirit of the agreement; otherwise you will each find things to bicker over... |
| We only spelled out Christmas and thanksgiving, and Mother's Day and Father's Day are spent with the appropriate parent. My daughter mostly spends Easter with me because I am more religious than her dad, so it means more to me. If his parents come in town that weekend, he can have her. We don't really split spring break- either someone takes her on vacation or we treat it as a normal week. |
