Elementary School-Aged Kids

Last year, I completely missed the fact that I would have to plan for care for DD during the public school winter break. We ended up sending her to the SACC camp in a local ES because I didn't have a chance to explore other options in advance.
What other places in McLean/Vienna/Falls Church/even Arlington offer programs or camps for this dead week between Christmas and NY's? I know most people are traveling, but we won't be and I'll need childcare. DD was quite unhappy in the program she was in last year and I'd like to find something else this time around. |
| Instead of having her go somewhere on her week "off", have you considered hiring a college student who is home for the holidays to come to your place and do activities, watch movies, go on field trips with your daughter (and maybe a couple of her friends?) I'm a teacher and I really think that kids need a week of down time even though it's not easy for the parents who work. |

| I'm in MD, PG County, but our parks and rec department runs a winter break camp at a local ice rink that is both affordable and a lot of fun. |
| Md mom here, Bethesda YMCA, Silver Stars Gymnastics, Create Art Center Silver Spring. Might try the YMCA in VA |

McLean Community Center has a series of field trips planned for 5th to 8th graders during that week. Do a search on their calendar for more information.
