| I buy pantry items from TJ, cheap produce and regular grocery items (organic milk, butter, etc) from Giant, and meat from WF. I want to consolidate! I really like TJ and will probably keep shopping there... if I add one store to replace Giant and WF, should it be Wegmans or Costco? I grew up with Costco but hear amazing things about Wegmans. Both stores are about 20-25 mins away from me, if that matters, so I'd probably go once a week or so. I also considered Safeway (too similar to Giant), Harris Teeter (overpriced) and Mom's (eh). |
| Btw are nice toilet paper and paper towels cheaper at Costco than Walmart/Target? DH goes through a crazy amount and that alone could be worth the Costco membership. |
| Wegmans. Way more selection than Costco and surely you're not going to want to buy every single thing in bulk. |
| Why don't you alternate? Costco once or twice a month for paper items, Kerrygold butter, etc. fill in with Wegmans for the other stiff. |
|
Costco. I buy meat, paper items, coffee, pasta, rice, beer/wine, pet products in bulk there.
I like going to Wegman's on occasion but I wouldn't want to do my primary shopping there. |
| Costco. I get our organic milk and fruit there. |
Right? I go to Costco every 3 weeks and Wegmans once a week and backfill from Harris Teeter. |
|
I'd actually say Wegmans - their "family pack" pricing is actually fairly comparable (if not better) than Costco.
That being said, I shop primarily at Wegman's, and fill in with stuff from Costco about once a month. |
Because if I paid for a Costco membership I'd feel like I want to do 90% of my shopping there. I'm cheap! |
| Even once a month, if you do bulk shopping at Costco, it will still be worth the membership fee. |
I agree that Wegmans is my weekly shopper, not Costco. Wegmans has enough bulk items for our family's needs. |
| I would add Costco and Wegmans and drop WF and Giant. Wegmans and Costco both sell organic meat and Wegmans, especially, has an excellent meat department. |

Costco ribeyes are awesome.
Amazon pantry and prime buttons for run of the mill stuff, TP paper towels, goldfish, bottled water and nerf darts. TJs for veggies, some fruit, granola, eggs, pineapple juice, pepperoni, frozen hash browns WF for flowers for DW |
Sounds neurotic. Costco is not economical for everything. Who cares about the membership? I get at least $200 back a year in Costco cash. You are cheap, but will burn a bunch of gas driving 25 min to a grocery store? Logical. |
This is exactly what I do, plus Trader Joes every couple of months. |
