iui done 3 hours after semen collection--okay?

Anonymous
Husband gave the specimen at 7:40 AM (collected on site). IUI was scheduled for 9:45 but didn't actually happen until around 10:30. I was super annoyed b/c I think they actually just lost my appointment/bungled the scheduling, b/c when I pointed out around 10:15 that we were running 30 minutes behind, it was news to them.

I know I'm being paranoid b/c washed sperm can live for 24 hours supposedly, but I also know that fresher = better. Any thoughts on whether having the specimen just hang out for another 45 minutes in the little thing attached to the catheter is okay? They acted like it was no big deal. His counts/motility were okay.

It's fine once it's washed it lasts 24-48 hours

My three hours post collection toddler is refusing to nap right now. I think it's ok. Maybe not ideal, but ok. Sorry you're having to deal with this.

Completely fine. It's likely kept in an incubator until it's attached to the IUI catheter for the procedure. If they froze it, that would be a different story.
