Uber to Dulles

I haven't taken Uber to an airport before. I'm planning to do so from Kensington to Dulles on Saturday. From fare estimates online it looks like it will be about $50.

Has anyone done a similar route and remember the cost?

Also, do most drivers pick up requests for Dulles or would I have to wait a while to get an Uber to take me there?

Uber won't tell the driver your destination until you get in the car. They can't refuse rides (unlike taxis).

Depending on the time of day, it may take up to 15-20 minutes for an Uber to arrive to you in Kensington. Budget that wait into your travel time.

I believe Lyft (and maybe Uber) allow you to "schedule" a ride up to 24 hours in advance. We used that recently on Lyft to go from Bethesda to Dulles at 430am. Worked perfectly! The app even sent us a reminder 30 minutes before the driver arrived (the same time we set the alarm to wake up).

I've done Uber to Dulles from DC, Farragut Square area, several times. The fare is often closer to $40 for that ride (26 miles).

Same wait for pickup as any other ride.
