My DH has expressed interest in having a trainer but has put on about 100 pounds since he was a college athlete 20 years ago. He is afraid of being judged, etc. and being treated like an idiot about fitness in general. (He isn't, but he just doesn't apply what he knows.) He would do better with a male in a one-on-one setting. Any recommendations?

| Don't waste your money with trainers at Xsport. They're awful. |
| fit one in Old Town is so great for this. |
| I don't know any specifics, but I work out at 24 hour fitness, and there are plenty ofobese people there. If your DH was an athlete, then he knows what to do. First step is Diet. Then get in the gym and start a warm up on the elliptical and then hit the weights. |
| Carol Shuford (works at Atlas Gym and has a Linkdin page) is awesome. Very non judgemental and works with all kinds of people. |
+1 Another recommendation for Fitness Together. |

| Work on the diet first, then move on to training. |
| Diet change plus 45 minutes of walking daily would save you a lot of money at least at the beginning. Get the trainer when he hits a plateau. |
This is how I lost almost 100 pounds. Diet first then walking 45 min a day. I started training after about 30'lbs. |
| MyFitnessPal.com To me, diet is way harder than exercise, but it's what he needs to do. Good luck --- losing 30 lbs a couple of years ago was one of the hardest things I ever did. |
