| My four year old is really, really interested in camping. We've stayed in our tent overnight once last year in May. We'll do backyard camping but I also have Spring Break coming up and would like to potentially go on an overnight camping trip. Anybody know a good car-camping site (without too many RVs) that would be open in late March? We need bathrooms with running water. It'd be great if there were easy hikes nearby. |

Little Bennett in MoCo is perfect for first kid camping experience.
Close, not crowded, nice hikes, and you can be back in civilization in 15 minutes. RV's allowed, but only in certain "loops" of campsites. Not sure if open in March though. |
Yeah - not open yet. I only found one campsite in the Shenandoah open that early. Would love further recommendations if anyone has them. |
| Look at the Delaware State Parks. We have stayed in the camping cabins at Trap Pond on the eastern shore on the spring. Nice pond, bike trails. About 2 hr from DC. The camping cabins are a nice intro to camping. No kitchen or bathroom but a small fridge I recall. They also have tent sites there. And nice separation from RV area. |

PP here. It also looks like Greenbelt Park campground is also open. Went there years ago for or kids' first car camping experience. Weird to be so near the beltway but quite nice. A Federal park.
