What does Herbert Hoover Middle School have over Pyle? Churchill vs. Whitman

Anonymous
Want ONLY a middle school to middle school comparison. Not concerned about other years. Concerned about STEM curriculum and music.

Both are high income communities with the standard MCPS curriculum.

The STEM curriculum is pretty much the same across all MCPS ms. The only school that has a different STEM curriculum is TP magnet.

Please go to Hoover. We don't need more kids at Pyle.

Well no one can actually compare them because if you live in one district then you can't possibly send your kids to the other

However I have a DS at Pyle and from what I can tell his friends at Hoover are basically taking the same classes with the exact same curriculum

They all have the same math pathways and they all offer band and chorus and orchestra and all the other electives with maybe a slight differences on the Fringe

They are virtually identical with the exception of the kids and even that is a similar demographic

You can compare stuff like building age (Hoover 2013; Pyle 1993) and number of students (Hoover 1,038; Pyle 1,516). You could also compare percent of students who qualify as walkers, if MCPS published that information, which I wish they would.

Why are there two threads on this same topic?

More programs and after school activities in Pyle.

Whitman is vastly superior to Churchill.

I am a Math tutor and I tutor 2 different students from both school and I highly recommend Hover. The school teacher is teaching very well. Following up homework, following up each student, send them email what they learn each day, etc. Unfortunately Pyle school is not doing well. The teacher skips Unit lessons, do not follow up homework, etc.

I don't understand why your post says "Churchill vs Whitman" and you say only middle school.

Anyway.

I have no experience with Pyle but have found Hoover to be great.

Do you all think Hoover and Cabin John will keep their respective boundaries in the upcoming redistricting?

I could easily see them changing Cabin John's boundaries because they're so weird looking. A bunch of disconnected islands.

Why anyone think these schools are safe when you almost had a mass shooting at WOOTEN HS
High income areas

What a joke

Move out of MCPS, your best areas have been the worst areas for 20 years

I’ve heard rumblings about Hoover’s admin cutting music back significantly
