Pyle is consistently rated the top middle school in the state of Maryland regardless of special programs or demographics. It also feeds into the general consensus best high school in the state makes it a no brainer. The only real down side is Pyle is large by middle school standards.

That isn't to say that some special program might not be better for some specific kid but those are typically competive and targeted for specific small groups and all one has to do for Pyle is move there which is it's own from of competitive.

Yes that why it was stated as (the consensus). There will always be people who ignore criteria and statistics while inflating arbitrary intangibles to inflate something that they care about to arrive at a preconceived "opinion". But when the people who are not involved universally rank something higher the majority of the time, that is when it becomes a consensus. That allows you to have your opinion, it just classifies it as an uninformed outlining case of sour grapes.

If you swapped out the Watkins Mill HS staff, administration, and building for the Whitman HS staff, administration, and building, what effect would that have on the test scores at Whitman HS?

I personally don't think student performance is really linked to the staffing in any particular MCPS school. I believe it has a lot to do with peer grouping and the home environment/parents. There are so many parents in the W schools who supplement their children's educations with tutors and other educational supplements. We are at a W school and I've had to pay for many tutors over the years because my kids were not getting the support at school. Every school has their share of good educators and not so good educators-period.

People make the mistake of thinking that just the name or reputation of the school will be enough. A good teacher is the key element in your student's success. Plus, the support and culture at home.
