Doing a DE IVF cycle overseas and have a foreign prescription for Lupron that is hung up in Customs. Has this ever happened to anyone and what happened??

Omg, yes, that happened to us with estrogen, of all things. DH called both the delivery service (in our case, DHL) and - I want to say the FDA, who I think were the actual holdup - several times a day for 2 days in a row and went full-out no-holds-barred on them (he is very excellent at this and I gotta say, I've never been more impressed). They eventually released and delivered it at 7:30 pm at night and the driver told DH that he'd been instructed to make sure it got to us *as fast as possible*, haha. Although there's really no way to know if the calls had anything to do with it being released, they sure did NOT want him calling them again. We'd ordered overseas meds twice before with no issue (the first time was the entire raft of medications, too, Bravelle, Menopur, HSG, everything) so why a box of estrogen pills got flagged no one knows. There wasn't ever any sort of follow-up and later boxes we received from the same address got through just fine, so who knows. Good luck and I hope it gets to you by the time you need it!

OP-----Yes, it is DHL and FDA exactly. My husband is trying to work through this with them right now. I needed a glimmer of hope from someone got through this. Ahh, thanks. My fingers are crossed- my shot is scheduled for Sunday. Thanks for the response and glad it worked out for you! I hope we have same luck. I've used a concierge in the past and never had to worry.

Hi - I'm looking at DE overseas and was struggling with how to get a doctor to rewrite the prescriptions so I can fill them at a US pharmacy (my ObGyn says he can't as I won;t be under his care for the DE)

OP, did the clinic which you are using overseas actually help you to fill the prescription overseas?

OP- yes, they wrote the prescriptions. I was able to bring home 3 months worth of what I need post DIVF; however, I need to take a few things before I go and that is what is hung up at Customs. The Clinic that I use has a pharmacy and they are the ones filling it. I would suggest using concierge services- we have in the past- we didn't have to worry with these details. It is stressful enough. Good luck!!!

Your overseas clinic should write the prescriptions- www.ivfmeds.com may be able to fill them for you. You can get the max 3 months worth of meds from them as well.
