My recently potty trained 2 year old has been on 1.5 capfuls of miralax a day for the past six weeks. How to i wean her off of it and how much longer should I keep her on it. Her GI told me not to bother with weaning for another three months at least. How did you reduce your toddlers dependcy on miralax? Her diet is pretty healthy. Lots of fruits and some veggies. Oatmeal in the morning. Whole grains most of the time instead of white rice/potatoes/pastas for dinner.
Fiber gummies and yogurt daily worked for us. Also avoiding too much milk and carbs.
Thanks. We are currently giving her two fiber gummies a day, is there anything else we can do? Since yogurt is dairy as well would it not cause constipation?

Gerber pear juice works really well for my dd.
My son was on Miralax for months. I weaned him off slowly, basically cutting it back by a teaspoon or so at a time, making sure that worked for a couple of weeks, then dropping the amount again, continuously stepping down until he got off it. I would start by doing a more precise measurement than by capfuls, and step down gradually. |
Daily probiotic as well. Just slowly taper it. Even if she says she can't poop, have her sit on the toilet 30 minutes after each meal for a few minutes.
