At what age is it unacceptable for a kid to wear diapers

It depends on the child.

Let's assume the child is neuro-typical, able bodied with no physical, emotional or cognitive delays they can not be potty trained.

I'd say any older than 4, would be unacceptable. I think there is a window of time usually around age 2 where it's easiest (but not always easy). If you start too soon, you'll fail but if you start too late you have a child who you can't outsmart and training can be impossible.

Most children are PT by age 3, but some just need a little extra time.

It also depends on whether you mean daytime or nighttime wear.

I knew a child of a family friend who had to wear a nighttime diaper until almost 10 because she had a terrible time with wetting the bed.

3 for daytime.

Don't be ridiculous. It is not unacceptable for a three year old to be wearing diapers.

And before you say it, my kid trained at two, but I remember plenty of three year olds, especially boys, who wore diapers.

Tons of 3 year olds are in diapers.

4, I would be surprised. But I've seen it.

I think it becomes much less common at 4 and most kids without underlying issues are daytime trained by then.
My son was trained by 3; my daughter just turned 3 & is still in pull-ups.

3.5 daytime. My son trained at 28months but not night trained until 3.

Agree with 3. At that point you should be actively potty training and child should at a minimum be in pull ups. My 3.5 year old still wears a pull up at night and maybe once every two weeks wets the bed at naptume. Very heavy sleeper.

Diapers yes, pull ups no.

If a kid is in pull-ups, he is still in diapers, duh.

I'll be honest, after 3 I start feeling like diapers are kind of gross. I inwardly feel a bit ugh when I see a 3 or 4 year old in diapers.

I think most kids lose the diapers by some time when they are 3. So if still in them by 4 it is unusual. But I don't really care.

"Unacceptable" is not really an applicable term for this, I think. If a child other my own is in diapers, there's nothing for me to "accept." It's not my business. If my own child is in diapers past typical toilet training age, then I personally know why we're in that situation and am dealing with it.

I would say it's unusual for a child to be in diapers when they turn 4, and would expect that the parents of such children would know this and be doing something to address it. But again, none of my business.
