Has PGCPS finalized the 2017-2018 calendar? Last I heard they were starting before Labor Day, but I can't find the calendar on the website. We are just trying to plan for the first day of school!
Thanks in advance! |

There is already a post started on this.

| Understand needing to plan now. I have been sitting waiting eagerly. Trying to plan for the summer as well |
| Thank you for your help! Eager to see the decision on the 23rd. |
| Any news on the final proposed school dates for 2017-2018????? |
This still says proposed calendar so it looks like it hasn't been finalized yet. |
| Hopefully they will provide the dates soon...parents need to be able to make plans! |
Exactly. I haven't paid for any camps in August because I need to know when school will start. |
| Agreed. We go to the beach for a couple of weeks in August and I'm hoping the dates work out. To be honest, I'm okay with a post Labor Day start, they just need to make a decision. |
| I really need to make August plans. I'm a teacher so I have to start back a week earlier than the kids.... |
| The calendar has been submitted to the State board of ed, and the district is awaiting a response. |
| As usual, PGCPS is the last to inform parents! MCPS has already posted their calendar...why are we always behind on things????? It is embarrassing!!! |

FYI, if they submit a pre-labor day start date (which it looks like they did), don't expect any answers any time soon. Likely hogan/the state will take them to court over this, or the legislature would have to intervene. They could be litigating this all the way to September.
As the article posted previously indicated, Hogan's EO is on shaky legal ground and there is a decent chance the county could prevail. But I'd line up a backup plan for childcare through Labor Day if I were you... |
That's not right. We need to be able to make plans now. And people who provide child care and camps need to be able to make plans, too. |
