Family vacation in March in the south, but not southern Florida

Anonymous
We are planning a family trip in the beginning of March. The tricks are that it has to be driving distance for some families and relatively inexpensive flights for others. The kids range in age from 4-7.

Ideas being batted around are:

1. Gulf coast of Alabama/Florida panhandle

2. New Orleans

3. Atlanta

4. Chatanooga

Western North Carolina and central/southern Florida are a little too far.

The group preference is for airbnb or a vrbo so that we can all stay together and have a kitchen. Or an affordable suite hotel with 2 separate bedrooms (with doors).

However, my personal strong preference is for an indoor pool or a heated outdoor pool. (the kids love to swim and I'd like a place where we can just hang out as families as well as/instead of having to go out to activities)

Does anyone have recommendations of resorts in any of these areas that might have warm pools that are big enough to be fun (so many indoor hotel pools are tiny), or other suggestions? Thanks!

St Augustine, Florida is a fun vacation if you haven't been. It's an easy drive from D.C. Or quick flight from DC to Jax.

It can be pretty chilly in March in St Augustine, even just for sitting poolside.

There are some cabins in the Tennessee mountains that have indoor pools. That would be a lot of fun for a family trip.
