Is there a good way to get rid of bra fat - that area of skin squished in the bra by your under the armpit/shoulder blade/bra snap area?
Is there an exercise or something that targets that muscle area (obliques?). Should I get better fitting bras (but I love my pretty bras and the cup size is just fine). Sometimes I can wear shirts that cover it up, but it's not really working. I'm about 8 lbs over weight, but just can't seem to get rid of this area with dieting and exercise. Any help appreciated. |
Have you been professionally fitted? Oprah, and the people I know who have had it done, RAVE about it. (It's on my wish/to-do list.)
Based on what I've heard, a professional fitting would make the bra fat disappear. Not sure how cute the styles will be, depending on the size. Victoria's Secret-style bras sometimes seems more concerned with style than fit. |
| Your bra doesn't fit and probably isn't very good anyway. Bras shouldn't be squishing you there. While you may like your bras, they aren't doing you any favors. Get fitted professionally at a good bra shop like Sylene, Dor-ne or Coup de something downtown. You will be amazed by the difference. Wear a t-shirt when go to get fitted so they can make sure it looks right. |
| There's a tank top by Spanx (I think...) that eliminates back fat. You might search on it and see what comes up. I've heard that it's a miracle undergarment for that issue. |
| 8 lbs could be a lot on your frame depending on your rib cage size/height. when i weigh 145 i have back/bra fat. when i weigh 138 its gone. |

I had bra fat overhang, but it went away after I bought some Japanese bras from the Ripplu store in NYC. Mine were about $68 each, so not necessarily more than a department store. It's best to go in for a fitting. Since my fitting I've been able to find well fitting bras online.

I am also normal weight but also prone to bra fat. I'm just built with more of a boxy shape, and whenever I gain a couple pounds, it goes straight to that area--the same way other people might see changes in their hips or thighs. I have found that rowing machines and general upper body toning exercises help a lot to improve the definition in the area. I also have a friend who got bra fat lipsuctioned away--it cost about $2000 and is completely gone. I have been thinking of possibly exploring this option for myself if I don't see more improvement from exercise and diet alone.
I did buy a spanx tank top deal, but it just doesn't work in warm weather--the last thing you want in weather like today is a skin tight apparatus with the breathability of a scuba suit. Ugh. |

I got the bra le lullia (sp) from spanx. It's good. It's not quite as supportive as I usually like, but it gives a nice looking shape and it does reduce bra fat. The cups are fairly padded though, in case you are NOT looking for increased volume.
I would buy more. |
| Just wanted to say, I just completed a bra fitting at Trousseau In Vienna. I was totally wearing the wrong size! The stuff's not cheap but the staff is very nice, helpful, and attentive, and the bras look great. |
| You should have a professional bra fitting once a year - 9 out of 10 women wear the wrong size. Also, the trend is towards seamless bras - the edges have been lasered so they give you a flat finish without elastic, seams or threads which tend to accentuate and promote bulges. |
