Travel soccer wants ages over grades for a host of reasons; fairness, safety, accountability, policing, etc. School, rec and travel have latitude to play with friends. Mid and upper level travel has latitude to go case by case for the best players to challenge themselves. The rest is a 12 month window, like the soccer gods have chosen since the beginning of time.

You would better serve your child by constantly communicating with your club to have them set the team to suite your child's special needs.

Your choose is to be unhappy not dictate new rules that nobody else wants to protect your kid from playing with kids a grade older. They are going to have to toughen up for HS btw.
