My 9 month old has always had very thick thighs, even our pediatrician commented on how abnormally fat they are. It's absolutely adorable, but clothes are getting to be a little challenging. We've had to use the 12 month pjs & pants ever since she was 7 months; they are still too long for her but we can barely zip pjs up past her thighs now.
She just started walking so I'm hoping that will help her legs slim down, although I'm a little afraid they'll just gain a ton of muscle and be even thicker, ha. Did anyone else have this problem and did your baby's legs ever go down to a normal size? |
| Of course they do. Fat baby thighs are the best! Before you know it her legs will be like twigs. |
| Her legs will thin, but it may take months or years. |
| We had the same issues w our now 19 mo. His legs slimmed down quite a bit after he'd been walking for a while -- lost two thigh rolls! |
|
My DS had the most enormous thighs ever. Like, people stopped us on the street to say," look at those legs!"
It actually took a while for them to slim down. He's very active and plays soccer, and probably by 6 or so he had stick legs with knobby knees, which he still have today at 9. But throughout his toddler years and early pre school he was a pretty round boy (though stayed right at 50th percentile for height and weight throughout). |
| Babies are usually built like their parents. If both parents have normal thighs, so will the kid. Baby fat doesn't count and babies slim down a lot between the ages of 2 and 3. |
| My kids were enormous. Like- 21 lbs at 12 weeks enormous. Today they are all slum and athletic. |
|
My 13 month old is still a super chunk, but she isn't walking yet. She's also super tall.
The best pajama brand I have found by far is the Gap Kid Organic Cotton line. It's a little expensive but it's the only one that is soft and stretchy enough to fit her legs. We love them! For leggings, Polarn O. Pyret is the best for her. hope that helps! |
Slim! Not slum
|
| Yes, he's 12.5 yrs old and finally slimming down! |
| Of course. It starts when they start walking. Imagine how your thighs would look if you never moved and ate high fat food all day. |
| I had the chunky baby that people on the street would comment on. She started walking at 10 months and now at 13 months still has much chunkier thighs than other babies her age. Her legs are definitely thinner, but definitely not thin by any measure. I hear you on the pants struggle. Almost all 24 months are too tight, but 2T's are even narrower in the thighs. She wears a lot of boy's pants, which are looser, or dresses/skirts with tights. She's always been 75-85th % for height and 95th for weight. I was skinny as a rail, but DH was a little chubby as a kid, so I wouldn't be surprised if she never slimmed down as much as other kids. NBD, it takes all types! |
Holy moley! Those are big kids! I'm sure they broke your back! |
| My 2nd had thighs that were so chubby he couldn't fit in the Bumbo leg holes. They slimmed down once he started walking. He is a slim 4 year old. |
haha! Neither of mine fit in the bumbo either. The four year old has slimmed down a lot. The two year old still has quite a bit of cute chub, and I'm not worried at all. |
