if you test for normal blasts, do you transfer any on fresh, or biopsy/freeze all and only do FET?

if i am planning to do Next Gen testing on 5 day blasts on my next fresh IVF, just because of my age (37), would I transfer any on the fresh, or would I biopsy and freeze all and only transfer on a subsequent FET?

Most likely freeze all

It depends on the clinic. I was at one clinic out of state that did testing on Day 5 with overnight results and if there were any normals you could do a fresh Day 6 transfer but you don't find out until early that morning. I never had any normals.

Most clinics seem to do testing on Day 5 or 6 embryos, freeze them while you wait for the results, and then transfer on an FET later.

I also tried the approach of transferring the max number fresh but untested on Day 3, with the idea I could test anything left over that made it to blast by Day 5 or 6. But there were never any blasts to test and Day 3 transfers did not take.

Good luck!

What about transferring an untested day 5 and biopsy freezing the rest?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that if you wanted to.

I will obviously ask my RE at my next consult just wondering if this is done/recommended

my plan was to transfer fresh on day 3 and freeze and test whatever made it to blast.

i transferred two on day three and nothing made it to freeze. Luckily my daughter was one of the day 3 embryos that took.

OP here I would transfer on day five

My RE said no to this. He said he did it with someone and the untested day 5 turned out to be a trisomy.

The first time we did it, we transferred fresh and froze the rest. The second time, we did a freeze-all.

We got a BFP with the fresh transfer but that pregnancy quickly became life threatening (it's complicated) and we had to terminate.

The second time was with a surrogate and we had to do two FETs to get our BFP. That LO is currently in his saucer, attempting to eat his socks.

I mean there's always a risk of trisomy think about getting pregnant naturally ?

And there have been small studies which show that sometimes (though rarely) an abnormal embryo can correct itself.

Why would an Re not recommend PGS?
